Country Registration

Supporting streamlined access to new vector control tools in endemic countries through raising understanding of the WHO pre-qualification process and supporting country regulators to access the information they need to make efficient and informed decisions. I2I will also work to support WHO’s efforts to develop a vector control Collaborative Registration Procedure to facilitate more timely market access for new tools.

The need for optimization in Vector Control regulation

Despite significant progress, the efficacy of existing vector control tools is threatened by increasing insecticide resistance and gaps in coverage. As novel products enter into the market, the need for efficient country access for these tools is critical. This video highlights the challenges faced by regulators across sub-Saharan Africa, and calls for action from key stakeholders to work together to overcome the challenges.

Current Priorities

Coordinate engagement with Country Regulators:

Organise I2I Regulatory Workshops with country teams and regional stakeholders, including African Union, African Leaders’ Malaria Alliance and Africa CDC;
Work with WHO PQ to adapt engagement approaches for Vector Control;

Support WHO to develop a vector control Collaborative Registration Procedure (CRP) for vector control;

Milestones

I2I and WHO PQ Workshops focused on country registration of new vector control tools;
Directly support to country regulators to adapt procedures for new tools;
Support endemic country regulators through facilitation of placements with WHO PQ;
Development and publication of Vector Control CRP;
