WHO has released its report on the recent consultation process detailing the “Determination of Equivalence for Public Health Pesticides and Pesticide Products”.

The report makes recommendations for core vector control interventions (LLINs & IRS) as well as complementary tools (space spraying and larviciding). Top line conclusions include a recommendation that equivalent LLINs should undergo bioefficacy testing using cone or tunnel tests. In the case of IRS, concurrent comparative assessment of efficacy and residual activity of the reference and equivalent product is recommended.

The report can be found on the WHO website here.
